Re: What are the most common types of "mental attack?"

Nowadays I see people most often trying to goad you into an argument, or trolling. People just trying to get a rise out of you. Tremendous time wasters.

Re: What about fame, glory, riches, etc?

In my experience a lot of people who caution you against fame or riches are those who secretly desire the same thing but don't want to do the work, so it is a subtle way of sabotaging you. They'll talk about ambition as if it's a terrible thing.

Re: What are your thoughts on etiquette?

I don't think etiquette, by itself, is used as a tool to manipulate and control. It's just something fancy pants people created, like a tradition almost. Recognize that it's a social construct, sure, but that people aren't trying to be malicious with it. It's just courtesy.

Re: The Laws of Human Nature

Well first off that is a giant ass picture. I did what you said and picked this up at the library, not too far into it yet. But I have read Mastery and the 48 Laws before and I am familiar with Greene's style. I think that's why his books are so popular, they're not only informative, but entertainin...

Loricism needs a book

I have been a fan of this since it first began, and I've seen it grow past several initial hiccups, false starts, etc. And I believe it will continue to evolve, as it should. But I think a lot of people need that first big push, something that can really get them to embrace this whole experiment wit...

Re: Idea of Best Ideas

I'll take the challenge of trying to explain it, insofar as I understand the concept. The Idea of Best Ideas is a core concept within Loricism. It simply states that all ideas can be improved. Because there is always room to improve and idea or concept, how do we do that? We must analyze ideas. We m...

Re: Tribe, by Sebastian Junger

Just started reading this and I'm already finding it fascinating. I like that he started the book by talking about Native American tribes and how none of them ever defected to "white society" and how a lot of white people left society to join the tribes. The absence of depression and suicide is anot...

Re: When people come at you with misconceptions

I think if you were going to tie this into mental martial arts, for me it would be learning how to avoid fruitless confrontation. This seems like the single biggest gift you can give yourself.
