For the longest time it was House of Leaves, by Mark Z. Danielewsky. Now it's Lonesome Dove, by Larry McMurtry. I also loved Fight Club forever, and of course Lord of the Rings.

Just realized I forgot to add mine in. For me it's Dune, followed by Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Like Mik, I also liked 1984. Have you read Brave New World?

All of those books are great. Brave New World was good, and if you ever saw that movie with Christian Bale called Equilibrium, you might catch similar themes to BNW, at least I did.
